When are rehearsals? Rehearsals for cast are held every Tuesday and Thursday during Term 1, 2 and 3 up until Production Week. Rehearsals are from 3:30pm-5:30pm (unless otherwise specified). Students are expected to make their own way to the PAC at the Eastern Campus for rehearsals. For students at the Western Campus there is a local bus (691) that travels past the Eastern Campus, which may help with the travel. Please note that not every student will be required for every rehearsal. Students will be issued with a rehearsal schedule at the first rehearsal which details when they will be required in the term.
If extra rehearsals are needed, we will notify you of compulsory Sunday rehearsals that may begin late May/early June. Sunday rehearsals, if scheduled, will take place in the PAC from 1pm to 4pm. Once again, not all students will be required for every rehearsal and for the entire duration.
Does it cost anything to be involved in the show? All cast are required to pay a production levy for participation in the production. The production levy covers costume, sets, props, sound and lighting. It also covers the cost of a production t-shirt and the production rehearsal camp. The cost is approximately $280 and part-payments can be set up with the administration office at each campus. The exact amount will be advised after casting is complete.
Is there are production rehearsal camp? YES! All cast are required to attend a 3 day intensive production rehearsal camp. This is a highlight for all cast members within their production participation. As well as a great way for rehearsals, it is great for cast bonding. This year we will be returning to Oasis Camp in Mt. Evelyn. The dates for production camp are: 25th, 26th, 27th May. It is imperative that all production members attend this camp.
What are the expectations of students involved in the production? Students are expected to help out with fundraising and promotion for the show. In the past this has included chocolate box drives, selling tickets and seeking donations for raffle prizes where possible. Students will be advised of fundraising and promotion during early Term 2. As well as this we often hold working bees, which involve set construction/painting, costume making, prop creation and other bits and pieces. We really encourage students and their family members to attend to get involved in the show and assist us in these areas. They are a lot of fun and help us out drastically… Dates and times for working bees will be given out on rehearsal schedule and the more the merrier!
When is production week? Production week is Saturday 29th July to Sunday 6th August. Opening night will be Wednesday 2nd August. Students are expected to have full attendance on every day during this week. Negotiations can be made with production coordinators if students have events that come up without prior knowledge.
Do I need any prior experience? No prior experience is required. Students of all abilities are encouraged to audition. We are looking for a committed cast who love to perform!
What do I wear to auditions? School uniform is fine. You may wish to change into something more comfortable. If auditioning for Featured Dancers, please change into something you can move in.
Can I audition for multiple roles? Yes! Absolutely! You can audition for as many roles as you wish. Please bare in mind that we may have a lot of students to audition so you may be asked to stop in the vocal audition if the panel feels they have seen enough.
